Common Thistle is widespread in the cultivated areas and forest clearings of the Himalayas, from Afghanistan to Burma, at altitudes of 740-2200 m. </span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-family:times;">Medicinally, in Nepal, the juice of the root is used to relieve fevers. A paste of the root is used in the treatment of stomach disorders, and the fresh root is chewed to treat nosebleeds and aches in the throat, especially during the dry summer.
